About the test
The theory test, also known as the rider knowledge test, is based on the general road rules and other road rules that apply to motorcyclists in the Northern Territory.
The test has 30 multiple choice questions. The questions are selected from a pool of more than 300 questions.
You must get at least 26 out of 30 questions correct to pass. You can take the practice rider knowledge test before you sit your real test.
You may take a test at any MVR office up to one hour before the office closes, or a police station.
You do not need to book a time, unless you need an interpreter or have difficulty reading or writing.
Verbal theory tests
If you have difficulty reading and writing or understanding the English language you can complete a verbal test at some MVR offices.
You must pay for the verbal test at the time of booking. MVR can also arrange an interpreter if you need one.
